I am a "lucky" recipient of two new titanium hips and two new titanium knees! Dr. Mark Palit performed my left hip replacement and both of my knee replacements.
I was so impressed by the care I received at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion...from the registration staff to the orthopedic department staff, to the X-ray technicians, to Dr. Palit's nurse, to Dr. Palit's surgical team, to the anesthesiologist, to the team assisting me in recovery, to Dr. Palit himself!
My first hip replacement was done in another hospital with what I considered sub-par results. I'd had a subsequent surgery done at the same hospital. I was given medications I was allergic to. In addition to that, adding my anesthesiologist into the mix, I ended up with encephalopathic psychosis; I was on a ventilator for 6 days. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and lost 2 weeks of my life!
I explained all that to Dr. Palit, and he and I each explained that to the anesthesiologists for my knee replacements. I especially reiterated that information on the days of my surgeries (I think to anyone who would listen!). I had a spinal epidural for each knee surgery so my brain wouldn't kick into psychosis as it previously had at the other hospital.
Dr. Palit and the anesthesiologists each "LISTENED TO ME"!! I could have kissed them each for/after each knee surgery!
I truly appreciate Dr. Palit and his office team and surgical team. Hang onto him tightly...he's a wonderful, compassionate, and very talented surgeon! I am so grateful he is my surgeon! And I am grateful for Iowa Specialty Hospital!
